Fiscal responsibility

Protect what happens in the classroom — and plan honestly for the long term.

Where Dennis stands

A school district budget is a set of promises: to students, to the teachers and staff who serve them, and to the families and taxpayers who fund the schools. Every year Dennis has been on the board, FVSD has earned a positive financial certification — the state’s confirmation that the district can meet its obligations — with stable, sustainable budgets. Dennis has spent years on the finance side of education and nonprofit boards, and he asks the hard questions before money is committed, not after.

Priorities

  • Keep FVSD on a positive financial certification every year.
  • Direct resources to the classroom — teachers, materials, student programs — first.
  • Maintain a healthy reserve so one difficult year doesn’t force cuts to instruction.
  • Plan for enrollment and funding changes early, in public, with clear tradeoffs.
Sound budgets aren’t the exciting part of the job — they’re what makes everything else possible.
